Roses are Red…
Hello hello… Well, today is Valentine's Day and although that doesn't mean much to me, you'd never guess that if you knew all the crafts I'm currently involved (more like embroiled) in! This year I've taken it upon myself to make 16 Valentine's Day goody bags for all the great teachers and volunteers at my younger sister's community center. Check out the end of this post for a sneak peek of my chaotic progress, I will have a post up later with the finished products.
Back to the topic of the post… As you can see, we've got a full bush of roses over here!
I don't know the specific name of this rose, all I know is that it's obviously not the typical rose you see everywhere. For instance, it's smaller, very very delicate (petals fall at the slightest touch), and has a looser rosette formation. This large rose bush was started from a rooted cutting that my great grandmother gave my mother when my parents bought their house over 29 years ago!

Just recently, it wasn't doing too well because we discovered that one of the dogs (well, we know which one for sure) had dug a huge hole at the base, exposing the roots. My mother filled in the hole in a panic, and then after a few weeks gave the whole plant a trim to encourage new growth. Well, it has only been a few months since then and it has already filled out significantly with new leaves and tons of blooming roses. My great-grandmother would be so proud to see the large thriving rose bush that my mother nurtured from a small cutting!
Whatever you do today, do it with love! I'll be at a special Valentine's Day party…ooolala! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Let's paint the roses town red!
Catherine
XOXO
